Welcome to Our Creative Home: Scout Workshop

If you’ve visited our workspace for design presentations or gatherings, you understand why we love it here! We’re fortunate to be part of the Scout Workshop collective – a unique coworking space located in the Uptown-LynLake neighborhood of Minneapolis. It’s our creative home, where we closely collaborate with our team on projects, brainstorm new ideas, all the while surrounded and inspired by a supportive community of small businesses.

The talented Kim Batcheller and Heather Rose-Dunning, founders of Yellow Dog Studio, an architecture and design firm, conceived of and designed Scout. True to their vision, it provides a welcoming, creative energy, not only for those of us who are here every day, but also for our clients, vendors, and project partners.

Situated along the busy Lyndale Avenue corridor, the building was first home to the Star Laundry Company in 1922, which explains the large open spaces and high ceilings. In the mid-1970s, the building was owned by Gaytee Glass - a stained glass business which has pieces in the Minnesota State Capitol, Basilica of St. Mary, Central Lutheran Church, among many other landmarks. When the building was purchased, former Gaytee owner, John Salisbury, left behind a number of objects, including gargoyles, a Steuben glass chandelier, and numerous stained glass panels, all of which Kim and Heather incorporated into the design of the space.

In addition to our open work space, a robust materials lab is located on the lower level and various sized conference rooms allow us to prepare for and hold client presentations.

When we need a Zen moment, we head to the airy and bright garden room. A respite space full of indoor plants and cozy seating, it’s a perfect spot for thinking, intimate conversations, or small gatherings. It’s especially appreciated on cold, winter days in Minnesota.

We’d love to invite you in for a tour!
